An Oregon Adventure Engagement Session.

Why not choose the inside of a volcanic caldera for a romantic session?

One of the most amazing trends over the last few years is the client’s desire to take their engagement sessions, elopements and weddings to places that might require a little bit of extra effort to reach. Oregon has such a diverse offering of landscapes to choose from. Over the past year, we’ve captured images from the hidden sand dunes of Eastern Oregon, to high lakes and the pinnacles set on the peak of an ancient volcano.

For this adventerous session, we met Colby and Sonja and Paulina Lake Resort which sits just inside the caldera formed by Newberry Volcano. Though the sky was filled with smoke from surrounding fires, our elevation helped us rise above a good portion of the haze giving us beautiful light and mild temperatures.

For a $5 parking fee, the resort was kind enough to let us play around on the dock and surrounding area before we headed up to the summit of Paulina Peak -a dusty but rewarding drive.

This couple.

We photograph all kinds of personalities and people-everyone has their own way of showing affection and how they feel about each other. Colby and Sonja don’t leave any one guessing. These two are storybook. The way he looks at her, the way she smiles at him. I wish I could bottle what they have and disperse it out to the world–everone deserves to be looked at the way they look at each other. I can’t wait for their wedding at Five-Fourteen Vineyards this Fall. Until then, here are a few images form their Central Oregon engagement session.
